The sire
EH Sixtus is one of the breed's current superstars. Reserve champion of his approval in 1991, international show jumper for Germany during his active career and at this point, sire of 14 approved sons and countless high score stud book mares. EH Sixtus also holds the breed's highest show jumping index in terms of successfully competing offspring and also has several top notch event horses and FEI dressage horses among his get. Among the many successful Sixtus sons, his black "look alike" Buddenbrock seems to be the main link to the new generation of Trakehner sport horses. His sons stand in Great Britain (Axis) and Poland (Silver) and his influence has now stretched into North America as well (e.g. the ATA's Fandango or his grandson Inamorato by Buddenbrock). His daughters produce yet another generation of exceptional riding horses (e.g. the SPS+PS mare Olga III, dam of the premium stallion Oliver Twist). The sire Habicht stands out as the breed's most versatile producer with offspring in all three disciplines at international levels. Among his many approved sons, the stallions Seeadler and Coktail seemed to be the ones with a lot of dressage potential, while his son Windfall *Pg* excels in eventing as the World's most successful eventing stallion and also seems to be producing that (e.g. CIC*** eventer Karambeau by Windfall). Many Habicht daughters entered the stud books, while one can probably be called his "best": ES Arwetta, dam of the 4 approved stallions EH Argument, Argonaut, Aron and Arsenal. Dam sire Ibikus, a top dressage stallion in his own right, had several approved sons, of which Wie Ibikus was probably the best. However, it is really Ibikus' daughters that carry his excellent influence. Just to name a few, the stallions EH Gribaldi, EH Van Deyk, EH Anduc, EH Sixtus, Goldino, Induc, Stradivari, Showmaster, Schwadroneur and Sans Souce are all out of Ibikus daughters!
The dam
Ballerina is probably the breed's most influential mare of our time. Her first approved son Buddenbrock stamped the past years by high quality approved sons that back their genetic value with outstanding performance records (e.g.King Arthur TSF, Connery, Epernay, In Petto). Banderas is a full brother to Buddenbrock. Ballerina is also the dam of several highly successful mares: Bandera (by Eh Friedensfürst), placed in the final of the Bundeschampionat and won the National Mare Champion title in Neumünster; Batida (by EH Sixtus) was an auction mare in Neumünster, and was in foal to EH Lehndorffs. The resulting foal was the best approved jumper in Neumünster 2004, premium stallion Blitz & Donner; Barracuda (by EH Friedensfürst) and Biskaja (by EH Sixtus) were the champions of their inspections and finally, Borgia (by Biotop) is the dam of the 2006 stallion candidate 58 Biraldo. The mare family of Blinklicht also stands for the stallions EH Benz (FEI dressage), Baluster, Belsazar (S dressage, CH), Bellheim, Bernstein (state stud Warendorf) and Doruto, the best dressage sire the Netherlands ever had (sire of multiple international champions and Olympic competitors). The origin of this branch is the family of Blitzrot by Hirtensang from the main stud Trakehnen.
