The sire
Key West is a full brother to K2, who was the undisputed champion stallion in Neumünster in 2001. K2 sold at auction for 350.000DM to the pure Oldenburg stud farm Gestüt Sprehe. Like K2, Key West is not only a very good mover, but also jumped well and has been shown in open jumper classes, qualifying for the Bundeschampionat. He combines two impeccable mares in his pedigree: the National champions Schwalbenburg (dam of 4 approved stallions) and Kalinka. A combination of the Schwalbe and Kassette lines in one stallion. Sire Stradivari had been promoted as a show jumper with excellent results and even though stationed at a remonte spot in the South of Germany, had gotten a name for producing excellent performance horses, both in eventing and show jumping at National level. Upan la Jarthe AA was, for many years, one of the leading jumper sires in the Westfalian breed and also sired the approved FEI dressage stallion Kadre Noir (dam by Ibikus, also from the Kassette line).
The dam
Casata vom Klosterhof comes from a great line of sport horses. Her sire Donaumonarch was an international show jumper and left the breed with his excellent son Tycoon (UK), dam sire of both the champion and reserve champion in Neumünster 2004, Le Rouge and C'est Bon. In fact, the second dam here, Charisma von Klosterhof, is also the second dam of C'est Bon! The line further produced the approved Crambambuli (by Exorbitant xx) and Chronist (by EH Caprimond). This is also the family of the very successful FEI show jumper mare Caprice, and traces back to the foundation mare Caravelle by Ramzes AA.
