The sire
Sire Distelzar was approved in Neumünster and sold to Klosterhof Medingen, where shortly after, he finished a good stallion performance test and then became the highest priced auction horse at the Klosterhof Spring Elite Auctions (600.000DM). He qualified for the Bundeschampionat and represented Germany at the FEI World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden. Distelzar's first crop of sons was up for approval in 2004 and both Donauzar and C'est Bon were approved, the latter as reserve champion. The sire EH Gribaldi is one of the top 3 international Trakehner performance stallions today and has several approved sons both in the Dutch as well as Trakehner breed, including the reserve champions Hofrat and Hoftänzer, and the 2004 approved Rheinglanz. Two sons were approved for the ATA, Kougar von C and Kobra von C, and Gribaldi's son Painted Black (KWPN) is one of Anky van Grunsven's hottest newcomer stars. With EH Arogno and Matador, the pedigree descends via two very influentiall sires of the 80s and 90s.
The dam
Donaufürstin also produced the approved Donauprints (by Almox Prints J), who is a successful S level show jumper, and the approved Donaufels (by EH Hohenstein). Donaufürstin was a member of the 1994 Grand National Mare Family in Germany (all breeds) together with her maternal sisters Donaumärchen I + II (both by EH Caprimond). Donaufürstin is a full sister to the elite mare Donauwoge, dam of the approved Donaukaiser. The second dam, ES Donauquelle, also produced the outstanding show jumper and stallion Donaumonarch (by Sir Shostakovich xx). This is also the family of the Hanoverian stallion Donautanz (by De Niro), as well as the Trakehners Donauzar (by Distelzar) and Donaufischer (by Sevillano xx).
