The sire
Ocos xx, who was born in 1980 and does not live anymore, never officially stood for the Trakehner breed, but since he is a TB, breeders can get special breeding permits for so called "test breedings". The colt Horaz is such a "test". Ocos xx, a champion race horse on the flat in Europe (e.g. second in the German Derby), was bred in a textbook manner for the German TB world, and thus, was an excellent theoretical match for warmbloods. His sire Frontal xx had considerable success in the warmblood breeds (most recent example in competition is the grey CIC*** eventer Finch Hatton by Suchard out of Foliberge xx by Frontal xx). The dam Ornata xx produced a number of outstanding race horses for the longer distances, and combined foundation TB lines via Neckar xx and Krakatao xx; lines that can be found in the majority of influential TB sires in Germany.
The dam
Verband Premium mare Happiness is the sister to the former NMS auction mare Helena (by EH Itaxerxes). Her sire EH Lehndorffs has become popular again after the exceptional results his offspring have in the higher levels of dressage (e.g. Kaiser Wilhelm, Kandida). The full brother to Happinees, the gelding Halenberg, is an accomplished Inter-I dressage horse in Germany. The elite mare Harmonie XX was a half siter to the great eventer Bukephalos (also by Insterfeuer), who left Germany for Canada (Galten Farms) and sired the approved Hilton GS and Heling (in Germany).
