The sire
Lauries Crusador xx is the biggest success story for the thoroughbred influence in the warmblood breeds of our time. No other stallion has had this kind of influence in the dressage breed lately, and his stallion line in both the Hanoverian and Westfalian breeds is strong and represented by high quality sons like Laudabilis, Londonderry and Laurentianer. "Lauries" with his outstanding type, his classical TB frame, the cadence, uphill tendency and elegant way of moving in all three paces and last but not least the high rideability he posesses is the perfect example of how modern breeds can profit from an outside bloodsource without losing identity, movement or athleticism. Lauries sired a number of internationally active Grand Prix dressage horses, and with the exception of Prince Thatch xx, that cannot be said of any other TB stallion of our time. So far, his influence in the Trakehner population has been rather slim compared to the success story he embodies in Hanover, but several high quality Trakehner daughters have been inspected and hopefully, a son will follow shortly.
The dam
Kadenz IX is already a proven producer. Her two black sons Karolinger I and Karolinger II were approved in the last years. Karolinger I, who was primarily turned down in Neumünster in 2003, came back as the champion stallion in Sweden, where owner Burkhard Wahler had sent him for approval, and soon won young dressage horse classes under saddle. After an excellent performance test, the black stallion became the top seller at Klosterhof Medingen's Fall Elite Auction in 2005, topping 250,000 Euros. He was selected to represent the Trakehner breed at the Bundeschampionat of the 4 year old riding horse in 2005 (where he placed 4th!), and has already qualified for the Bundeschampionat of the 5 year old dressage horse in 2006. This particular branch of the big Dohna-sche K-family, which today is most impressively represented by the outstanding performance stallion King Arthur TSF, has produced the stallions Koritt (AUS) and Korvo (ATA), both direct sons of the 2nd dam Korscha. Dam sire EH Hohenstein needs little introduction, his influence on the Trakehner breed is substantial with over 10 approved sons as well as many daughters that are popular as brood mares. Hohenstein's footprint can also be seen in Hanover and Oldenburg, where sons like His Highness, Hudson, Harvard, Hochadel or High Spirits bring a dose of Trakehner blood combined with the one thing Hohenstein is famous for: exceptional rideability. The second dam sire Karwendelstein was also from the K-family and was one of the breed's most popular stallions during his time. Only little came out of that heavy breeding period, but occasionally, a few very high quality daughters can be found in sporthorse pedigrees and brood mare backgrounds alike.
