The International Trakehner Bundesturnier 2010 - Riding Horse Classes (3&4yr old)

The 3yr old stallions
Seven of the 10 stallions presented in this class were approved in Neumünster in 2009, among them the Champion, Reserve Champion and another premium stallion. The class was dominated by Gestüt Tasdorf's outstanding liver chestnut All Inclusive (by EH Gribaldi x EH Buddenbrock), who was presented by Hannes Lütt. The large-framed stallion has three very high quality basic paces and is already very balanced and rhythmical in his movement. All Inclusive qualified for the finals on sunday. Second place was won by the chestnut Oettingen (by Easy Game x EH Caprimond) under Ralf Kornprobst. The stallion, to the surpise of many, was not approved in Neumünster in 2009, but obviously has owners that believed in him and showed great talent for a future dressage career. Through his sire Easy Game, he is also a descendant of the Gribaldi-line and had similar convincing gaits as All Inclusive. Only the very high neck carriage raised some questions. The 2009 Champion stallion Kentucky (by Donaufels x EH Lehndorffs) with Gestüt Wiesenhof's chief rider Johan Svensson placed 3rd in this qualifying round, and impressed with this excellent trot work. Kentucky had a very busy breeding season, which was evident in his constitution, but he is not missing any of his charme and good movement. The last stallion to qualify for the finals was Ice Age (by Karolinger I TSF x Giorgio Armani) under Dutch rider Lena Erlandsen. He was also nominated for Neumünster in 2009, but not approved. Ice Age is a maternal half brother to Carola Koppelmann's former international Grand Prix winner Insterburg TSF. In the sunday finals, the results were slightly different and the final order was: 1st place All Inclusive (8.75), 2nd place Kentucky (8.63), 3rd place Oettingen (8.19) and 4th place Ice Age (8.00). The first three were nominated by the Trakehner Verband to represent the breed at the Bundeschampionat later this year.

The 3yr old mares & geldings
The class for 3yr old mares and geldings was very well received in terms of numbers - 19 horses competed here. In the qualification round, no less than 9 horses placed. The winner was Sabine Oberdiek with her gelding Bugatti (by EH Tambour x EH Partout), who received solid scores for her trot and canter, and the outstanding walk was rewarded with 9.0. Second place was won by Dirk Seewald and Keanu (by Lücke x EH Buddenbrock). He displayed outstanding qualities in his trot and canter work, but lost important points in his rather average walk. 3rd place went to Jana Freund and Praise Me (by Goldschmidt x EH Tuareg), followed by Gitte Hinrichs with Elfenzauber (by Herzensdieb x EH Buddenbrock). With an identical score, Mareike Peckholz also won 4th place with Maxima (by Easy Game x EH Ravel). These 5 qualified for the finals on sunday. The other horses placed in this class were: 6th Hella Kuntz and Beluga (by Insterburg TSF - EH Friedensfürst), 7th Nadine Rüdiger with Black Label (by Lauries Crusador xx - EH Hohenstein), 7th Kathrin Gerken with Haya the Princess (by Goldschmidt - EH Solero TSF) and also 7th Magdalena Mahrenholtz with Lillifee (by Rheinklang - Ivernel). Interestingly, Praise Me, Beluga and Lillifee were all high score mares at their respective inspections earlier this year! The sunday finals changed little in the top 5 group. Keanu (8.44) won before Bugatti (8.13), followed by Elfenzauber, Maxima and Praise Me, all with a final score of 7.94. Bugatti and Keanu received nominations for the Bundeschampionat.

The 4yr old stallions
In 2010, the class of 4yr old stallions was rather weak, both in number as well as presentation. In the qualification round, newly approved Flakon Go (by Blitz und Donner - Alpenkönig) and Tanja Gutjahr placed 1st. Flakon Go is a tall and still rather lanky stallion with a high degree of overall athleticism. He is very positively stamped by his outstanding dam, who also carries some much needed outcross blood via the excellent show jumper sire Alpenkönig and the TB Vollkorn xx. Second place was on by Patrick Thompson on the 2008 Champin Iskander (by Le Rouge x EH Hohenstein). The stallion was chased a bit too much at times and lost his rhythm more than once - a pity, since the speed did not help. Sometimes a little less is more ... 3rd place went to Redecker (by Kasparow x Couleur - Fürst) and Markus Waterhues. Redecker is a stallion of much appeal, always good in his hind end, and very athletic, overall a horse that could just as easily be produced as a show jumper. Unfortunately, he had some major communication issues with his rider during the test, but redeemed himself on sunday. 4th place went to Rino (by Checkpiont x EH Maizauber) and Maurizio Taverniti. These four stallions were the only once placed in this small class of 9 horses, and made up the group for thesunday finals. In the finals, the order was shuffled around quite a bit. THe new champion in this group is the champion 3yr old from 2009, Redecker (8.63), followed by Flakon Go (8.13), Rino (8.00) and Iskander (7.81). Only Redecker was nominated to represent the Verband at the Bundeschampionat.

The 4 year old mares & geldings
This class had 19 horses competing, and the top 10 were placed in the first round. The class demonstrated very impressively the genetic potential of one particular stallion, Le Rouge. Thre of the top 4 horses were sired by Klosterhof Medingen's chestnut stallion, the Neumünster Champion of 2004. Taking into account that he also sired the finalist Iskander in the stallion class, the record was more than impressive! The winner of the qualification round was Hennessy (by Le Rouge x Wolfsprinz) with Marie Jaeger, who had excellent basic gaits and a lot of lift and cadence in his trot. He was followed by Goleo (by Le Rouge x EH Sixtus), a former NMS stallion candidate ridden by Vera Nass, who is also the constant rider of Le Rouge. And third place was won by Nachtmusik (by EH Tambour x EH Herzruf). Owned by Gestüt Tadsorf, this most impressive mare is no stranger to the big ring. She was a most convincing champion of her inspection as a 3yr old after she sold as the auction highlight as a 2yr old in Neumünster. As a 3yr old, she also stood in the spotlight at the year end mare championship in Neumünster, and now shows much prommise under saddle as well. Thomas Wagner rode Herzritter (by Le Rouge x EH Tivano) to 4th place. These 4 qualified for the finals on sunday. The remaining placed pairs in the class were: 5th Klinsmann (by Le Rouge x EH Friedensfürst) with Vera Nass, 6th Sirius (by Insterburg TSF x Matador) with Christian Gallemann, 7th Hokus Pokus (by Goldschmidt x Glanzlicht) with Lena Erlandsen, 8th Koriander (by United Kingdom x EH Monteverdi TSF) with Mareike Peckholz and also 8th Akanthus (by EH Connery x EH Sixtus) with Annika Schwaab. Maine (by ) and Jutta Ehmann placed 10th with 7.50.
