Top Event Horse Auction, Luhmühlen 2009
Great news for Trakehner enthusiasts. The 2004 Olympic eventer Marisa Cortesi (CH), who rode Peppermint III (by Zauberklang *E* - EH Arogno) in Athens, has a new Trakehner youngster under saddle. Last weekend's Top Eventers Auction in Luhmühlen, Germany, included two full Trakehners and a part-Trakehner. The impressive chestnut gelding First Flight's Dancer (by Sky Dancer - Almox Prints J - Steuben) is the new mount for Marisa, and will hopefully enjoy a similar career as her long-time partner Peppermint III. He sold at auction for 18.000 Euro.
The same auction also moved Light of Polaris (by Grand Prix - Bouquet AA - Siegbert), an exquisite model of a modern eventer, to Switzerland, and into the capable hands of Tamara Acklin. Light of Polaris brought 32.000 Euro at auction. Both horses come from the very successful event horse breeding program of Gestüt Heidekaten in East Germany.
Top seller of the auction was the 5yr old Hanoverian mare Carolyn (by the Trakehner EH Connery), who placed in the Small Finals at the 2009 Bundeschampionat, sold for 41.000 Euro to Hessia. The pedigrees and images, as well as videos of the two Trakehners can be found here ...

International Trakehner Bundesturnier in Hanover 2009

We have all results online now, sorted by discipline, and are awaiting the final scores for the driving competition. The foal auction was a major success with several high sellers, and the State Mare Show of the breeding district Lower Saxony, which was also staged during the days in Hanover, brought an amazing new champion mare.
