The sire
Chateauneuf was approved as a premium stallion in Neumünster. His dam Chamonix is a multiple in hand winner and also dam of the M level dressage horse Catani. Chateauneuf is a successful s-level show jumper, and also showed in dressage through M. The origin of the dam line is the same family that also produced EH Caprimond, the top show jumper Carajan, and Chateauneuf's very close maternal relatives Chardonne (NMS 2006) and the Westfalian State Stud stallion Fuerto. Sir Shostakobich xx was the breed's most important TB of the 90s, and sired several excellent sons, many with predominant talent in show jumping (e.g. Donaumonarch). He also produced the CCI**** eventers Böttcher's Lengchamps (Olympic Games in Sydney) and Lester Piggott (USA).
The dam
Excellent show jumper dam line, with a noteworthy accumulation of Ibikus and Impuls blood though Kiebitz, Schwalbenzug and Zauberhafte, which is matched on the sire side by Sanitago, champion in NMS and like Kiebitz, a Wie Ibikus son. Third dam Zauberhafte was successfully shown in show jumpers up to M level in Germany and her dam Zauberied was a most successful and famous foundation mare for Gestüt Hämelschenburg. She is the dam of the S level show jumpers Zauberer (by Impuls), Zauberfürst (by Ibikus) and Zauberstern (by Impuls), and the CCI** eventer Zaunkönig (by Impuls). She is also dam of the outstanding and very important DLG champion stallion Zauberklang (by Prince Rouge). Same family as stallion candidate 38 Zaubertanz.
