The sire

Freudenfest was champion in Neumünster in 1999, and followed his full brother Farinelli, who was proclaimed as champion in 1996. Farinelli competed at S level dressage, while Freudenfest finished his performance test, won young horse classes and then only stood at stud, but was trained to Grand Prix by his biggest admirer, Otto Langels. Freudenfest's sire Tolstoi was premium in Neumünster, and he too never competed much, but sired several approved sons and very good daughters. Tolstoi's dam Tugend is dam of the S level show jumpers Tiflis and Trenk Quattro (both by Flaneur), while her daughter Turandot IV is dam of the approved Turnus (by Zauberklang *E*) and daughter Titania is dam of the great sport horse sire Tycoon (by Donaumonarch). Freudenfest's dam line is the direct one that leads back to the major sire Flaneur, his full brother Mahdi, and the approved Falkensee (NZ and now AUS), Feingeist (CAN), Flugwind, Fasolt (ATA) and Fahnenträger II. Freudenfest is sire of the approved stallions Godot (has two sons in NMS this year), Ostpreusse and Shavalou.

The dam

Dam sire EH Manrico is one of the very few remaining decendands of the important Abglanz-family in the Trakehner breed. While Hanover profited tremendously from this "A" influence and Abglanz' stamp can still be seen to this day, his influence in the Trakehner breed sadly remained small. Manrico is an excellent exception to that rule with a performance record at FEI levels in dressage and a firm, high breeding index in the Trakehner breed, especially for movement quality. Second dam sire Tümmler was the first National Event Horse Champion in Germany in 1978 with Martin Plewa and sired a number of excellent horses, among them the full brothers EH Tenor and EH Tivano. Tümmler was later exported to the US, where he again had significant influence, and produced e.g. Natalie Rooney's CCI**** eventer Aladdin.
